Leopoldsteiner Lake

The lake is located in Styria | Austria, between the villages of Hieflau and Eisenerz. He is 31 meters deep at its deepest point and is mainly fed by underground springs. He got its name from the neighbouring Schloss Leopoldstein.

There is a hiking trail that takes you around the entire lake. I left early again to catch the morning mood at the lake. Because of the very high surrounding mountains, the sun only comes long after the actual rise over the mountains.

In the early morning hours you still have your peace at the lake, that changes suddenly from the late morning. The lake is a very popular excursion destination and it is not possible to take undisturbed pictures after 10 am.
